The Dodge Ram was first introduced in the model year 1998. It is a full-sized pickup truck, which won the Heavy Duty pickup truck award in 2003. The current model is built at Coahuila in Mexico, Missouri in United States and in Warren, Michigan in United States.
First Generation (1998-2007)
The models released during the period 1998 to 2007 were produced by Daimler Chrysler and the vehicles produced later are produced by Chrysler, a parent company of Dodge. The full-sized pickup truck was offered in either four wheel drive or in rear wheel drive.
Available engines to the model were 3.7 liter slant-6, 5.2 liter V8 and 5.9 liter V8. The high performance Dodge Ram model was introduced in 1984 as Ram D150.
The Dodge Nitro was redesigned slightly in 2004. The exterior styling was changed and few new features were added.
Second Generation (2008-Present)
The current generation Dodge Nitro was introduced at North American International Auto Show in 2008 and it went on sale from the first quarter of 2009. The light duty diesel version of Nitro model is scheduled to be released in 2010.
The 2009 Dodge Nitro features a number of major improvements and innovations. The major competitors to the model include Lincoln Mark LT, Toyota Tundra, Ford F-150, Nissan Titan and Chevrolet Silverado.
The standard engine to the current generation Dodge Nitro model include a 5.7 liter HEMI V8 version that delivers 390 hp of power and 407 lb ft of torque. The other engines available as optional include a 4.7 liter Magnum V8 and 3.7 liter V6.
